This is one of the city's most symbolic hotels and it is often a place where you can spot national and international stars of public and cultural life. The establishment has an excellent location on the seafront and it also acts as a wonderful view point of the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Almeria.
This was the city's first four star hotel. Since its opening in 1967, this hotel has played a central role in film in Almeria, ranging from the era of Sergio Leone and Western films to nowadays with Steven Spielberg and his Indiana Jones movie. Both have been guests at the charismatic Gran Hotel Almeria. Other stars who have stayed at our hotel include Harrison Ford, Sophia Loren, Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, the Beatles, Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, David Carradine, Faye Dunaway, Catherine Deneuve and many more!
The hotel's strategic location in the centre of Almeria enables guests to visit the various points of interest by foot. These include the Alcazaba, the cathedral, the town hall (Ayuntamiento), the Puerta de Purchena, Abastos Market, Teatro Apolo, Teatro Cervantes, the Basilica de la Virgen del Mar, the San Pedro and Santiago Churches and many more.
